Posted: 17-10-2006

The European Commission has launched a competition to reward organisations and individuals who have made a significant contribution to promoting job mobility in Europe. Applications are being invited for the European Workers’ Mobility Award.

The Award will be presented at the closing conference of the 2006 European Year of Workers' Mobility in France on 11 December.

The initiative is designed to reward an organisation, an enterprise and an individual who will have actively contributed to promoting mobility during the European Year of Workers’ Mobility.

Nominations can be made by the individual or organisation concerned, or by a third party. Awards will be made in each of the three categories, with up to three candidates receiving a prize in each category.

The award is open to candidates from the 25 EU Member States, Acceding Countries, Candidate Countries and EFTA Countries. Nominations can be made in any official EU language, but should include an informative summary or extract in English, French or German. The closing date for entries is 15 October 2006.

The award winners will receive a diploma, presented by European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, Vladimír Špidla, at a special prize ceremony as part of the European Year’s closing conference.
