I've recently attended a conference in Moscow, and I must tell you that it was much easier and less expensive for some colleagues who just applied for a tourist visa, than it was for me, presenting an invitation letter from the organiser, having to ask and pay for stamps, and therefore wait longer for the visa to be issued.

I have to share my experience considering cultural networks and traveling for EU candidates countries such is Macedonia. For 4 days stay we have to wait more that a week actually we have to appoint a perception for the documents in advance one week. Then we have to show invitation letter from organizers, hotel reservation , flight reservation, special fax from organizer, bank accounts details, health insurance and in case we represent non governmental organization a court registrations of the documents. Later we have to pay tax for visa fee 35 EU who is not refundable in case we are denied. So for 3-4 days visit on seminar or symposium we have to spend 2 weeks...and maybe more...My hope is that EU policy will be more transparent regarding the visa issues for non governmental organization involved in arts and culture Culture needs to be in touch and expanded not to be isolated. So how we expect to develop our civic society in situations when we are not allowed to travel without huge amount of stress and such a administrative obstacles.
