The Expanded Mediterranean Residency, 15–28 September 2025 at Konvent in Spain, seeks projects that broaden the notion of the Mediterranean through narratives that break away from existing stereotypes and build bridges both in terms of content and on a conceptual level.
Artist Sabine Réthoré proposes a cartography of the Mediterranean without borders, offering a perspective free from territorial prejudices linked to the north-south orientation. This approach moves beyond conventional representations of the world. The resulting image introduces new challenges by bringing Mediterranean peoples together within a shared space. It is a map that urges us to reorient ourselves, offering a vision for reimagining possible futures.
The goal of the residency is to develop a project that is already in progress and at an advanced stage of realisation, although completion is not required.
Eligibility
- Artists and visual creators who work with images as an expanded and flexible language and who have an ongoing or in-progress project
- Adults from the Maghreb and the Middle East
Konvent will cover visa costs, management fees, and travel expenses for two of the selected artists.
