New Solidarities - Reports 2025

New Solidarities Reports 2025

‘New Solidarities’ is On the Move’s project co-funded by the European Union for the period 2025–2028.

The 2025–2028 project is placed under the auspices of On the Move’s commissioned research, captured by South African curator and writer Ukhona Ntsali Mlandu: ‘Solidarity […] is not charity. It is born out of the recognition that our fates are linked.’ The ‘New Solidarities’ project aims to unpack the need for new sustainability mechanisms in the culture field, within Europe and internationally.

The four reports of the ‘New Solidarities’ (NxS) Project for the year 2025 address various On the Move actions that are all interconnected and contribute to achieving the project’s objectives.

Capacity Building 2025

The Capacity Building Report, written by Jordi Baltà Portolés, outlines and analyses capacity-building activities in all NxS priority areas. These activities include Walk-the-Talk sessions, Working Group meetings, and webinars, most of which are carried out in close partnership with On the Move’s members.

Engagement report

The Engagement Report highlights OTM’s contributions to events throughout the year 2025, including those organised by OTM members, as well as self-organised events such as the annual Cultural Mobility Forum. It also analyses OTM’s on-site and online outreach through social media, newsletters and website traffic.

Advocacy report

The Advocacy Report authored by Sophie Dowden, analyses advocacy activities covering all NxS priority areas, including joint advocacy campaigns, ASK Capsules, and strategic meetings. It also features a list of related positions that have been discussed in public debates and statements, including those for the Culture Compass.
Green annual report The Green Annual Report defines the outcomes of the SHIFT eco-certification scheme for networks. These outcomes cover areas such as governance, training, raising awareness, calculating the carbon footprint of travel, and promoting climate justice. On the Move has implemented this certification in collaboration with 15 other cultural networks for the third year running.
