  • Camargo Foundation, Frac & Goethe-Institut > Collaborative Residency
    The Camargo Foundation in Cassis, the Fonds Régional d’Art Contemporain Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (Frac), and the Goethe-Institut in Marseille are coming together to support one international project led by a team of artists and scholars. The selected team, composed of two to four members, will be hosted both at Frac and Camargo in 2021/2022. The residency is open to teams of artists in all creative disciplines and researchers/critics/curators working with experimental or artistic approaches. At least one group member must be a resident of Germany. Deadline: 12 July 2020.

  • Casa Planas > Artistic Research Residencies for Creators and Thinkers
    The Casa Planas centre in Palma, in conjunction with the Goethe-Institut, has announced the second edition of its Artistic Research Residencies programme, the aim of which is to develop and produce innovative projects that reflect and shed light on cultural relations between the Planas Archive and German culture. The centre is offering a residency programme for research into contemporary art aimed at creators and thinkers, taking place 15-27 November 2020. Deadline: 30 June 2020.

  • Goethe-Institut > The Burden of Memory
    The Burden of Memory is a platform for cultural practitioners from Africa who work on confronting Germany’s colonial past in their countries in various artistic forms. Artists and cultural practitioners of all art genres from Burundi, Cameroon, Namibia, Rwanda, Tanzania and Togo are invited to apply for funding for cross-border co-production projects dealing with (German) colonial past and its impacts on contemporary society.   • Goethe-Institut > Project Manager for Museum Futures
    The Goethe-Instituts in Africa are launching a networking and self-driven learning programme for museums in Africa. The project is based on a peer to peer learning approach, aiming at accessing knowledge within different museum structures to develop future concepts for museum work in Africa. For this project, which will be steered from Johannesburg, but implemented in different countries on the continent the Goethe-Institut are looking for a project manager. Deadline: 10 May 2020.

    Le Goethe-Institut du Chili et l’Institut français du Chili proposent un programme de résidences artistiques pour cinq duos franco-allemands. Chaque duo mènera un travail de recherche en collaboration avec le lieu de résidence chilien qui le recevra pendant un mois. Les disciplines recherchées sont : arts visuels, arts de la scène, art sonore, arts médiaux, architecture, urbanisme.   • Imagining Ecological Futures – Art & Design Residency Namur
    The Goethe-Institut in collaboration with KIKK Festival, its Creative Hub & Fab Lab TRAKK and the cultural centre Les Abattoirs de Bomel are awarding a grant for a residency project on ‘Ecological Futures’. The residency programme will take place in Namur from 2-30 September 2020. The organisers are inviting two residents in total: one from Germany and one from Belgium. To be eligible you need to be resident in one of the 2 countries (for at least 2 years) or to have the country nationality. Deadline (extended): 15 May 2020.

  • Goethe-Institut Glasgow, Alliance Française Glasgow and Institut Français (Scotland) > Artificial Intelligence in Residence
    The Goethe-Institut Glasgow, the Alliance Française Glasgow and the Institut Français d’Ecosse invite contemporary artists based in France or in Germany to apply for one of two residencies taking place in Edinburgh and Glasgow from 1 June to 5 July 2020.   • Goethe Talents Scholarship Around Pop Kultur Berlin
    The Goethe Talents Scholarship is aimed at young musicians, composers, singer-songwriters, and instrumentalists between 20 and 30 years old from transition or developing countries. Successful applicants will join a programme of activities running 18-30 August 2020, organised around the festival Pop Kultur Berlin. Applicants should have advanced English skills and work experience in the field of music, with proof of at least 3 projects and a link to a video of a live performance. Deadline: 18 March 2020.

  • Goethe-Institut > European Residency Programme for Translators of German-language Fiction
    The Goethe-Institut’s European Translators’ Residency Programme offers residencies for translators of German-language fiction. Residencies take place at one of two sites (Siggen and Dresden-Hellerau), last 6-8 weeks, and can be scheduled March-December 2020. The programme mainly targets translators of German literature (novels, poetry and essays) who live outside Germany, with preference for contemporary German fiction. At least two large-scale published translations, as well as a publication contract for the translation being worked on during the residency, are required to make an application. Deadline: 6 March 2020.

  • Goethe-Institut Vietnam > Residency in Leipzig for Artists from Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam
    Goethe-Institut in South East Asia is funding a three-month residency at LIA-Leipzig International Art Programme, running 2 November 2020 - 29 January 2021. The residency includes the production of one print theme at the Atelier für Radierung Maria und Vlado Ondrej etching studio, and works towards a South East Asia print publication. Applicants do not need to be working in the field of print making, however; training will be provided. The residency is open to artists living or working in Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore or Vietnam. Deadline: 31 March 2020.

  • Goethe-Institut > International Coproduction Fund
    The Goethe-Institut’s International Coproduction Fund is intended for coproductions by artists in the fields of theatre, dance, music and performance art, in which hybrid and interdisciplinary formats and the use of digital media may be key components. The target group comprises professional artists and ensembles abroad and in Germany, which demonstrably lack sufficient resources to realise their coproduction project on their own. Projects between German and non-European partners, in particular from transition countries, are preferred. Deadline: 15 April 2020.
