The A Casa Vella project (Amiadoso, Allariz, Galicia - Spain) is conceived as a space for artistic creation and social action in rural areas, for research and artistic training, the creative and healthy use of the body, respect for the natural environment and the enhancement of its resources, endogenous and intangible cultural heritage. The A Casa Vella project is a space for connection, relationship and meeting, favouring reflection and dialogue; the intergenerational encounter, a link between the rural and the urban, between art, bodies and natural and social ecosystems.
A Casa Vella intends to open its activity to the Ibero-American community through an international call with the support of Iberescena and to promote relations between the artistic communities of Portugal in person, for which two artistic residencies are called for companies/ artists who base their artistic work around movement and the body:
- Artists based in Portugal.
- Artists based in any other member country of the Iberescena Programme (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay).
A Casa Vella does not offer technical residencies.
Residency period: From 1 June – 31 August 2022.
Duration of residences: Maximum of 15 days.
Residency typology: Research and creation residencies for individual artists or teams of a maximum of 3 people, with a short or medium professional career, who base their artistic work around movement and the body. Projects that experiment with community and intergenerational art formulas will be positively valued, opening doors to new ways of living and living together.
Spaces for residences: Rehearsal room, residential space - accommodation, natural spaces Biosphere Reserve, spaces in the educational centres of the City Council (nursery school, primary school and IES) and Fogar dos Maiores.
Contribution of space: The organiser will be responsible for international and local travel, accommodation and maintenance as well as the necessary personnel for the artistic accompaniment of the process. In addition, the documentary record, photography and video will be made available to the artists.
Documentation to provide
The following documentation should be sent to the email address acasavellamiadoso@gmail.com with the subject CALL FOR RESIDENCES:
- Descriptive dossier of the objectives of the residency, contents, mediation activity proposal and links to previous works (maximum 5 pages).
- Curriculum (maximum 1 page per artist).
- Identity card of the participants in the residence and country of residence.
- Motivation letter (maximum 1 page).
Artist commitments
- Perform the residence in the period agreed by both parties.
- Carry out a mediation activity with the local community and/or artistic community of Galicia at the end of the residency or during it (meeting, exhibition, colloquium, participatory process…).
- Make a descriptive memory of the residence (maximum 5 pages) and deliver it within a maximum period of 1 month from the end of the residence.
- Authorise video and photo documentation of the residence.
- Respect the facilities and the environment.
