VH AWARD: Grant and Online Residency for Emerging Asian Media Artists 2026

Hyundai Motor Group is calling for applications for the 7th VH AWARD, a global initiative to support emerging media artists whose work engages with the context of Asia.

Through the open call, five finalists will be selected, each receiving a production grant to create a new work. The finalists will also participate in an expanded online residency programme, newly developed in partnership with Ars Electronica, the globally renowned media art institution based in Linz, Austria. The programme supports artistic development through masterclasses and workshops. Artists selected for the new Honorary Mention category will also be invited to join selected components of the online residency programme.

Applicants need to be individuals or collectives whose work engages with the context of Asia or who are of Asian descent, based in Asia, or members of the Asian diaspora. Eligible artforms include audiovisual screen-based artworks including video art, motion graphics, animation, games, films, or newly explored areas. Proposed works must be suitable for a single-channel video presentation.

Finalists receive:

  • A grant of 30,000 USD to support the creation of their work
  • Ars Electronica online residency programme including masterclasses and 1:1 mentoring sessions to develop the proposed artwork
  • Networking opportunities with curators and fellow artists

One Grand Prix recipient will receive an additional 30,000 USD to support future artistic endeavours.
