Kyrkerud College – Art School in Värmland (Kyrkerud, Sweden), gives artists and artisans who are residents of the Nordic region the opportunity to work and live at the school for three months, starting 14 September 2025.
Kyrkerud is situated by Lake Västra Silen on the outskirts of the small community of Årjäng. Kyrkerud College has been providing education for over 100 years, of which the last 55 years have focused on art and creativity. Artists will have access to well-equipped workshops, primarily for the subjects of graphics, ceramics, sculpture, painting and textiles. There is also a glass workshop for immersion, melting and casting. The school also has a small wood workshop, as well as good opportunities for working with photography. There is also the possibility of basic courses in workshops and materials, if desired.
The artists are expected to participate in events, talks and exhibitions as agreed, as well as two guest teacher weeks at Kyrkerud (the hours are formed in consultation with the school’s pedagogical staff).
Applicants must have an artistic education from an art university (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) obtained sometime between 2019 and 2025.
The fee per month is 20,000 SEK (including F-tax). During the week, breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the school dining room and the residency provides accommodation. Travel expenses to and from Årjäng, as well as other travel within Värmland and participation in the school’s study trips, are provided to a maximum of 5,000 SEK. There is also a production costs and materials budget of a maximum of 20,000 SEK.
