Kyoto Art Center offers an artist-in-residence programme to support the creative activities of emerging artists and researchers in the field of arts who seek to create new artistic expression through exposure to different cultures.
This year, open calls will be accepted from artists or researchers working in the field of visual arts. Literature and cross-genre applicants are eligible to apply every year.
Participants must be able to plan and implement exchange projects with the public during their participation period and they must be capable of communicating in English or Japanese.
The period of stay is up to three months between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2027.
Support
- Accommodation during the period of stay (up to 3 months)
- Studio at Kyoto Art Center
- Round-trip airfare (Economy class) from residential area to Kansai International Airport or Osaka International Airport
- Subsidy of 200,000 JPY (tax included) per production (for both individuals and groups)
- Cooperation in public relations
- Assistance by art coordinators
