Creative Generation recognises that artistic practice thrives in an environment that fosters deep exploration, risk-taking, and dialogue. Building on the momentum of the Performance Series (2022-2023), they are now introducing the Performance Lab, a new initiative dedicated to research and experimentation.
Creative Generation is now inviting performing artists from across the Asia-Pacific region to a one-month residency in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where they will explore process over product, questions over conclusions, and dialogue over isolation.
The Performance Lab was born from a desire to hold space for artists to go deeper — to step away from production timelines and toward something slower, more intentional, and more personal.
The programme involves:
- A one-month residency in July, August, or September 2025
- 800 USD artist grant (which can be used for travel)
- Accommodation at an artist home in Phnom Penh
- Unlimited access to a black box theater + shared studio space
- Support and dialogue with the team
- A public sharing moment designed by each artist
