The Edeiken International Arts Foundation (EIAF), founded by Dr. Nicole Edeiken, announces the one-month Artist-in-Residence Programme hosted at 7artscafe in Yokohama, Japan. This residency is exclusively for professional musicians, composers, sound artists, and interdisciplinary creators whose primary medium is music or sound.
The programme supports innovation in contemporary sound, composition, performance, and cross-genre experimentation while fostering meaningful cultural exchange in Yokohama.
Residency obligations include:
- Reside in Yokohama for the full one-month residency
- Present at least four free public events
- Present a final concert or sound installation at 7artscafe
- Participate in residency documentation
- Submit a final residency report
It is open to musicians living or working outside Japan, age 25 or older at the time of application, and with five years of continuous professional experience with verifiable artistic activity within the last 24 months. Ensembles of up to four members may apply.
The selected artist or ensemble will receive a 10,000 USD grant, payable in four instalments, to support airfare, housing, living expenses, transportation, and project materials.
