The Farm is leading Arts Residency programme in Western Australia, offering an opportunity for artists to develop work that engages thoughtfully with the land, in an eight-to ten-week residency to be undertaken between February and November 2027.
Located on a rural property in the south west of Western Australia, known as Wadandi Country. The residency will be awarded to an artist who demonstrates a strong creative practice, whose work will both enhance engagement and awareness of the area and benefit their own professional career. The programme supports the artist to develop ambitious work in direct response to environmental, ecological, agricultural and/or the cultural context.
The call is open to Australian and international visual artists. A valid driver’s licence is strongly recommended due to limited transport options in the region.
The residency includes the following:
- An Artist fee of 15,000 AUD will support living and project-related costs during the residency
- Accommodation and studio facilities provided on site at The Farm Margaret River
- Coverage of travel costs to and from Margaret River
- Professional documentation of the residency and work developed on site
- Research and practical support, mentoring, introductions to local networks and arts organisations
- Opportunity to present the project to a panel for additional funding and resources
- A community engagement event where the work is shared with the community
