Integrated in the official programme of Imaginarius – International Street Theater Festival of Santa Maria da Feira, Mais Imaginarius aims to give space to emerging artists willing to show their work, through a competition for artistic creations specific for the public space. In 2024, The Festival takes place between 24-26 May and the thematic umbrella is The Dream.
The competition opens the challenge for artists to present proposals that address the public space in its most diverse perceptions, testing formats and models, towards the construction of plural identities. In a dialogue between contemporary artistic creation and public space, it seeks experimentation, exploring new connections between different languages and cultural/natural heritage.
Each performative selected project must perform in public 4 to 6 times during the festival, usually with two daytime performances and two evening performances (the final number will be adjusted with the artist, depending on the characteristics of the Project).
Alongside technical and administrative support, the organisers provide:
- Travel expenses of Portuguese and international companies:
- 600 Euros – For artists and companies from Portugal.
- 1000 Euros – For artists and companies from the rest of Europe.
- 1400 Euros – For artists and companies from other continents.
- Food and accommodation for the artistic team from 23-26 May 2024.
All presented projects will be eligible for a final prize awarded by jury. This provides a 5000 EUR grant and a creative residency in Santa Maria da Feira to develop a new performance, to be premiered at the 2025 edition of Imaginarius – International Street Theatre Festival of Santa Maria da Feira.
