Akademie Schloss Solitude and the Coordination Office for Remembrance Culture of the City of Stuttgart are awarding two artistic residency fellowships, each lasting six months, for the period from July 2026 to June 2027.

Akademie Schloss Solitude is collaborating with curator, writer, and researcher Barbara Cueto to curate a call on the transformative potential of blockchain technologies as tools for care, participation, and collective governance beyond markets for a Web Residency.

Akademie Schloss Solitude is accepting applications for its residential fellowships for the period 2026–2028. International artists, researchers, and cultural professionals from all disciplines will have the opportunity to apply for a six- or nine-month fellowship.

Akademie Schloss Solitude, together with the National Art Gallery of Namibia and the Goethe-Institut Namibia, has announced the continuation of its bilateral residency programme, which promotes long-term cultural exchange between Namibia and Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

For the 20th Call for Web Residencies, Akademie Schloss Solitude is collaborating with Mindy Seu and Charles Broskoski to curate an open call on knowledge sharing and citation in the (post)digital age.

The web residency ‘Algorithmic Poetry’ will look at how sound may poetically speak with algorithms and networks. Four project proposals will be selected for a short self-directed residency beginning 1 June 2023.

In the framework of the project Magical Hackerism or The Elasticity of Resilience, SAVVY Contemporary and Akademie Schloss Solitude’s Digital programme offers four web residencies to practitioners and communities within the tropical belt, exploring situated knowledges, forming local DIT (Do It Together) community networks, and/or connecting intertropically on a planetary level. Residencies will run for six weeks from 1 November – 15 December 2022.

With the 17th Call for Web Residencies, artists are invited to experience, explore and enjoy taking a restful break in a utopian space of possibility from an intersectional and queer feminist perspective. Individual artists as well as groups and collectives are invited to adopt the space of the radical pause, shaping it as they see fit.

Within the framework of ‘Under Utopia’ three four-month fellowship grants will be awarded for a residency at Akademie Schloss Solitude from November 2021 – February 2022. The call is directed towards artists, activists, and thinkers from all disciplines.

‘Solidarity is a Verb’ is a web residency for artists, collectives, associations, and initiatives of all kinds. Proposals can involve analogue means and low-tech, physical gatherings where possible and safe. Projects do not need to be conceived from scratch; ongoing initiatives (such as existing associations, networks) are welcomed. The residency itself runs 1 September – 1 October 2021.

The goal of the Mutations web residency is to engage artist collectives working on the heterogenous theme of mutations – biological, sociopolitical, technological – in relation to the global digital divide. It aims to support artists, programmers, hacktivists, researchers, and other practitioners that offer mutations to the aesthetic and political underpinning of digital and internet-based art.

Akademie Schloss Solitude’s Call for Web Residencies No. 14 will be curated by artist and musician Johanna Hedva. Moving away from all-encompassing dystopian future scenarios, ‘Post-Doom’ explores how the perception of a lost present is inscribed in and reproduced in our everyday experiential spaces. Four proposals (in various online formats) will be selected for a four-week virtual residency.
