‘Art Beyond Fire: Encounters on Art and Risk’ is a full-day event organised by the cultural platform Moving Artists on 27 November 2025 at the Euskalduna Palace, Bilbao, Spain.
It explores questions such as: What is the role of art in times of war? Does artistic practice make sense when the most basic needs fail? Is art an act of resistance in the face of threat, censorship, persecution, armed conflict, or natural disasters? How can we support these artists beyond offering simple residencies?
Art Beyond Fire will bring together artists and cultural agents from Spain and abroad at the Euskalduna Palace for a series of talks, round tables, and artistic interventions addressing how art creates spaces for dialogue, memory, and hope in the face of barbarism. The event is organised in collaboration with On The Move and the Artists at Risk Support Network TEJA (Madrid). The meeting will be presented by actress Ane Pikaza and will conclude with a performance by the band Belako.
On the Move Secretary General Marie Le Sourd will be speaking at the event.
