Hordaland Kunstsenter: Artist Residency 2027/2028 for Nordic- and Baltic-based Artists (Norway)

A multi-story white building with some trees.

Hordaland Kunstsenter is currently accepting applications from artists based in the Nordic and Baltic countries to participate in their residency programme for 2027/ 2028.

Hordaland Kunstsenter supports a wide range of artistic practices, and they do not privilege any single medium or way of working. Since their founding, they have hosted and supported projects spanning exhibition-making, performance, sound, publishing, moving image, socially engaged and participatory practice, as well as research-based and discursive formats that unfold over time. They are particularly interested in artists whose practice moves between disciplines and resists easy categorisation.

Residency period is for two months (four separate residency periods are available: Spring 2027 / Fall 2027 / Winter 2027 / Spring 2028).

It is expected that the resident artist shares their research and offers insights into their practice through a public presentation / talk at Hordaland Kunstsenter during their stay. The format of this is not a fixed one, and is made in dialogue with the residency coordinator.

The residency is open to artists with a permanent address in the Nordic region (Sápmi, Denmark, Finland, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Sweden, Åland) or the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), with the exception of Norway. It is not open to full-time students or artists currently enrolled in an artistic PhD programme.
