Two major theatrical events are planned in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol in August: the Marathon of International Theatre Residences within the framework of the Great Cultural Capital project with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation and the Mariupol City Council and the iStage Free Theaters Festival within the Gogolfest.
The Marathon of International Theatre Residences is a modern theatrical laboratory of international dialogue, designed to open a new cultural Mariupol to Ukraine and the world. It is looking for three directors from Europe to collaborate with Ukrainian theatrical teams. The project will take place over 2 to 4 weeks in June and August and can combine two forms of interaction – online and offline. Creating a performance can take place in a variety of formats, including site-specific and digital formats.
The selected participants will join the creative team of a theatre production process. Scratch performances will be presented as independent events and/or in the framework of the iStage Free Theaters Festival (11-15 of August 2021) and/or at one of the regional GogolFests (during the year).
Participation in the collaboration includes:
- Accommodation.
- Flight and train tickets.
- Medical insurance.
- Technical support, supplies and materials.
- Participants will also be provided with team, space and promotion materials.
