SEWEM Guides: Build your Music Career in China

Title of the publication with a coloured and patterned background.

EMEE has published three guides to help artists build a career in China and develop their understanding of the Chinese market. From the legal requirements to the cultural differences when doing business, the guides cover a wide range of needs.

These are developed as part of the SEWEM – Sino-European Women Entrepreneurs in Music – project, a networking and mentoring programme to promote the skills of European and Chinese women in the music and export sector, aiming for equality.

Serving as a bridge between European and Chinese music industries, it fosters cross-border circulation and cooperation through mentoring, artistic encounters, and market knowledge enhancement. It is funded by the European Commission.

The guide are:

  • Collaborating and Exporting to China – A Management Guide: Essential for anyone considering projects in China, offering insights into the Chinese cultural industry and market.
  • Collaborating and Exporting to China – A Legal Guide: A comprehensive guide for those planning ventures in the Chinese music industry, covering legal and administrative aspects, including visa procedures.
  • Transcultural guide: An overview of the SEWEM artistic residency: Discover the partners, the residency preparation, artist selection process, and insights into cultural differences from both Chinese and French perspectives.
