European Heritage Hub: 2026 Peer Learning Visit for Heritage Professionals in Europe (Portugal)

Key details of the open call with an older person about to be interviewed on a film set.

The EU-funded European Heritage Hub invites heritage professionals and representatives of cities and regions to apply for its upcoming Peer-Learning Visit in Lisbon, Portugal from 4-6 November 2026. Organised in partnership with the City of Lisbon, this programme offers the opportunity for meaningful exchanges among cultural heritage sector peers in addition to participants aiming to learn more about ways to transform their own heritage initiatives and policies.

The visit will combine meetings with local policymakers and stakeholders, site visits, and facilitated solution-building workshops. The working language will be English.

Lisbon’s ‘Memories of Lisbon’ addresses the risk of social isolation among older residents by engaging vocational education students to record their life stories and to produce 2D animations that bring personal testimonies to life. The initiative exemplifies Lisbon’s strategic commitment to using culture, heritage, and digital innovation to foster social cohesion, inclusion, and sustainable urban development.

Those working in cultural heritage for local, regional, or national administrations, civil society organisations, cultural initiatives, or projects across Europe are encouraged to apply. This includes participants from Ukraine, Moldova, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye and the UK.

The group of maximum 20 selected participants will be composed of representatives from European cities and regions, but is also open to a limited number of cultural heritage stakeholders.

The European Heritage Hub will cover travel and accommodation costs for participants (two nights from 4 to 6 November) as well as meals during the stay, in accordance with the European Commission’s rules for travel unit costs.
