Flux Laboratory Athens: Experiment B Residency for Scientists and Choreographers (Greece)

Flux Laboratory

Flux Laboratory Athens welcomes applications for the residency programme Experiment B.

The Experiment series focus on the intersection between scientific research and dance practice, aiming to explore their creative collaboration. This synergy between science and dance is based on exchange, dialogue, inspiration and co-creation, while being developed on the fringes of the respective disciplines.

Flux invite existing collaborative duos or groups that involve at least one choreographer and one scientist to apply with an idea or project that they wish to collaborate on. This can be a completely fresh idea that you wish to kickstart or a project that is already in development. Residencies will take place over two months, from 15 October – 15 December 2023.

The theme and subject matter of projects are completely open. Key requirement for proposals is that artist(s) and scientist(s) are equally involved and invested in the creative/collaborative process. This must be demonstrated in submitted applications. Through their distinctive methodologies art and science will seek a common ground, so as to transform a joint research process into a choreographic outcome.

The residency is time bound and process orientated. Outcomes can therefore take a variety of formats such as work in progress showings, performance lectures, workshops, screenings among others or any combinations residents find suitable for their project.

The mission of Flux Laboratory Athens is to function as a unique incubator of synergies that will gradually evolve outside its walls, providing experimentation time and resources.

Flux Laboratory Athens offers: an artist Fee of 2000€ all taxes included; a scientist Fee of 2000€ all taxes included; production materials up to 1000€, all taxes included.
