‘The Body Folkloric’ is a funded month-long residency organised by Fundacja Ziemniaki i and Godki 22 to be held in October 2024 in Jonkowo, Poland. They are looking for five cultural practitioners who research, make, explore, act, play, perform, collage, sculpt, write or sing anything to do with folklore, its contemporary relevance and how it helps conceptualise and fight the climate catastrophe and biodiversity loss.
The successful applicants will have access to mentors for two meetings, the art research library (to be partly transported to Godki 22), their own private room, communal living space and kitchen and a 40m2 shared creative workspace with workbenches, a basic kiln and foot powered pottery wheel.
The residency expects the selected residents to share ideas as the driving force behind the residency is its interdisciplinary nature. The residency will select a mixture of practitioners from different disciplines to encourage this. However, they will also respect each resident’s individual working processes.
There is no defined outcome expected; the residency is a space for research, reflection and making. The residency is very much self-directed. Apart from the two meetings with the mentors, the residents are expected to work independently and as a group if the opportunity arises.
The residency is open to residents of the Creative Europe countries as well as Overseas Countries and Territories and the Outermost Regions.
All accommodation is paid for, as well as access to basic seasonal organic vegetables. Each selected participant will also get a stipend of 750 EUR (to be confirmed) and a travel allowance of up to 700 EUR (to be set depending on distance and means of travel).
