Kjerringøy Land Art Biennale: K-Lab 2027 for Nordic- and Spain-based Artists (Norway, Spain)

Text of the call with a photo of someone standing in a boat with tree-filled mountains behind.

Kjerringøy Land Art Biennale is looking for three Nordic and three Spanish artists for this two-part programme. The artists must be present throughout the period, in both locations. Applicants must live either in Spain or the Nordic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Greenland, Faroe Islands).

The programme provides a five-week stay at Kjerringøy (16 August to 19 September 2027) and a three-week stay in Catalonia (4 to 25 October 2027).

The idea is that three Nordic artists meet three Spanish artists, both on Kjerringøy, Nevelsfjord and in Catalonia, at Cacis. Only natural materials found on site/area are used. Artists will encounter very different nature that one of the groups is more familiar with than the other. Here, the artists will interact and help each other to find solutions.

In Norway one day workshops are planned for schoolchildren in primary and secondary school, and public dissemination of artists in Bodø and/or Kjerringøy. The artists will produce a work, individually or in collaboration, which will be publicly shown and presented. K-LAB are still working to secure the financial plan, and the intention is to provide each person an artist fee of 30,000 NOK. Travel and accommodation are paid for.

In Catalonia artists will make a work of art or a performance with and in nature at the sites in Cacis geological park, during the small festival, Efímera. The artists will create a video presentation about their work, which the public can view on the website and via QR codes at the installations. Cacis are still working to secure the financial plan, and the intention is to provide each person an artist fee of 2,500 EUR.
