Nuits des Forêts has launched an open call for three artistic creation residencies in 2026, conceived as spaces for close dialogue between artists, foresters and scientists. The selected projects will explore the theme ‘À l’écoute des vivants’, encouraging situated, sensitive and participatory artistic approaches directly connected to forest environments, scientific knowledge and local territorial actors.
The residencies will take place between mid-May and 21 June 2026, with residency outcomes presented during the Nuits des Forêts festival (5–21 June 2026). Residency durations are expected to range from around one week to one month, depending on project needs.
The residencies are at the following locations:
- SIGFRA forests, in partnership with the National Forest Park, the Irregular Forest School, and the Maison de Courcelles
- Bois de la Desnerie, in La Chapelle-sur-Erdre, in partnership with the Accoord Center and naturalist partners
- Tropical Agronomy Garden of the City of Paris – René Dumont, in partnership with the Cité du Développement Durable and COAL
Nuits des Forêts is a national association coordinating a festival across numerous forests in France. The 2026 edition focuses on listening to the living world as a gesture of care, relationship and creation.
The call is open to artists and collectives (including international artists) from all artistic disciplines. They can be in the process of being created, already underway, or take the form of a new development designed specifically for the residency.
Selected projects receive a creation grant of 3,000 EUR (including taxes) per residency. In addition, there is a daily allowance of 150 EUR for artists’ accommodation and meals (up to a maximum of 1,000 EUR); or accommodation directly provided and a per diem of 45 EUR per day (up to a maximum of 300 EUR).
