IN SITU: Platform Programme for Emerging Artists Working in Non-conventional Venues

Text of the call on a coloured background.

Starting from 2025, the IN SITU network will launch PLATFORM, a four year programme to identify and support 200 emerging artists. It proposes a support platform to develop artistic creations at the European level in public spaces and non-conventional venues.

The first open call targets 65 emerging artists working in non-conventional venues. All 65 selected artists will benefit from the programme
‘Learning and Discovering’, which includes training sessions, meetings with artists and culture professionals, and networking opportunities.

The first segment of each cycle offers the following to all selected artists:

  • An online preparation and training programme focusing on artistic creation in public space.
  • An immersive lab to benefit from the expertise of IN SITU members, work with them on their artistic projects and connect with artists and professionals.
  • A peer-to-peer programme building on the knowledge of experienced IN SITU artists and support sessions with On the Move.

The six-day immersive labs take place during an event or festival hosted by one of the IN SITU partners and bring together around 13 artists at a time. Five immersive labs will be organised, each to accommodate 13 of the 65 artists selected through this call. The costs covered for the participation in the immersive lab include: a participation fee of around 1,500 EUR, plus travel, meals, and accommodation.

After the immersive labs, IN SITU partners will implement the second phase of the PLATFORM cycle, ‘Producing and Presenting’. Around 10 artistic projects will be chosen from those presented by the artists selected from this open call. These projects will be supported within the network through residencies, co-productions, and touring opportunities. The projects selected in this second phase should aim to present during the summer 2026 for European touring opportunities.

It is important to note that the projects will benefit from support and co-funding but the programme does not aim to cover the entire costs of each production. Each artist or collective selected in the subsequent phase will benefit from at least two residencies and one presentation opportunity funded by the network.

At the end of this process, a FOCUS event will take place in September 2026 in the context of the European festival Fira Tàrrega, that will present several artistic projects supported by IN SITU.
