Villa Sonnenberg: Artist-in-Residence Programme for Professional Artists (Switzerland)

Light text of the call on a dark background.

Villa Sonnenberg is calling for applications from professional artists of any discipline for their Artist-in-Residence Programme in Lenzburg, Switzerland (a small town between Zurich and Bern). The theme for 2025 is InterGeneration which asks what could a more intergenerational relationship look like? And how do other cultures deal with this issue?

The 250-year-old Villa Sonnenberg has been a country estate, a family restaurant and most recently the residence of the composer, painter and writer Peter Mieg. Several generations have lived under the same roof, exchanging experiences, ideas and perspectives. Through this dialogue, the house has been filled with ideas, which continue to this day.

For the 2025 programme the residency is looking for artists who explore the theme of generations in their work and who challenge and rethink social beliefs.

Residencies are usually three months:

  • Mid-January – mid-April 2025
  • Mid-May – mid-August 2025
  • Mid-September – mid-December 2025

Good knowledge of German, English or French is required. During the residency artists will contribute with a public event.

The foundation pays a contribution of 20 CHF per day (600 CHF per month), as well as accommodation and studio space.
