The Burgas 2032 Foundation invites all interested parties to prepare and submit proposals for creative and artistic ideas to be included in the cultural programme that Burgas, supported by the region, will present for the bid for European Capital of Culture Bulgaria 2032.
1906, Burgas Port. One of the first buildings emerges – a warehouse for storing bulk cargo. It is called ‘Magazia 1’ and for decades it provides shelter for the valuables that enter and exit Burgas Port. Magazia’32 will be the symbolic treasury of ideas for the Burgas’ application in the first phase of the European Capital of Culture 2032 initiative.
There are five themes for the open call:

- Guardians of the Soul
Project ideas should provide for implementation in the territory of the city of Burgas and the municipality of Burgas. Project ideas that involve activities across more than one municipality within the Burgas region are eligible, provided that one of the municipalities is the municipality of Burgas. Project ideas may include activities in other Bulgarian municipalities and/or other European countries, but the main focus should remain on the Municipality of Burgas.
Eligible activities include activities in the field of culture, arts, creative and cultural industries, activities for the preservation and development of cultural heritage sites in the territory of Burgas Municipality, capacity building activities, partnership networks and mobilisation of potential for community cultural initiatives, education for culture, culture for environmental protection, etc.
Eligible participants are local, national, and international organisations, initiatives or individuals.
The open call asks applicants to indicate their budge needs in the brackets of up to 20,000 EUR, 50,000 EUR, 200,000 EUR or 500,000 EUR.
