From 20 September - 1 October 2023, FRAGILE – the International Festival for Young Dance-Music-Theatre, will be held for the first time in Wuppertal. The festival will take place at the Pina Bausch Centre and is funded by the Zero programme of the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation).
Climate-neutral forms of production and new aesthetics for ecological sustainability will be explored.
The organisers are searching for seven exciting productions with concepts for sustainable Dance-Music-Theatre performances involving young people. How did the production phases incorporate social, ecological, and economic aspects?
National and international initiatives, producers and artists are invited to present their productions. How can the stage become a field of experimentation on the topic of sustainability? What unique power does dance possess in cultivating global empathy? Can we organise international productions more sustainably? How can actions of solidarity in the arts be brought into focus? What new narratives, spaces, materials, and modes of production can be developed in terms of energy, mobility, food, and forms of collaboration, and communication? We need swarm intelligence!
Participants are ideally tandems of art and ecology or climate initiatives, and have worked with young people in different production stages. The festival is searching for productions that reach a young audience either indoors or outdoors.
